Video/Audio Drivers for Windows NT 4.0

This document provides instructions for installing Toshiba's audio and video drivers in Windows NT 4.0.

You must use the Windows NT 4.0 Control Panel to properly install these drivers. The Setup from the electronic archive only copies the driver files to your computer's hard drive. It does not install the driver in the operating system and its registry.

Installing the video driver

To install the Tecra/Portege/Satellite Pro video driver, follow these steps:

  1. From the Start button select Settings, Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Display icon.
  3. Select the Settings tab in the Display properties.
  4. Click Display Type and then click Change.
  5. Click Have Disk... .
    You are asked for the location of the driver files.
  6. Type C:\VIDEO , or use Browse... to locate the files if you specified a different directory with the Setup option.
  7. Click OK to close the window.
  8. Click OK to close the Change Display window.
  9. When asked if you want to install a third party driver, click Yes.
    Windows NT installs the video driver.
  10. Click Close to close the Display properties.
    A dialog asks if you wish to restart Windows.
  11. If you are installing audio drivers, click No and continue with the next section.
    Otherwise, click Yes to restart your computer with the new drivers.

Installing the audio driver

1. How to install the audio driver

  1. Start Microsoft Windows NT Version 4.0.
  2. Logon as Administrator Class user.
  3. Go to Control Panel, Multimedia, Devices.
  4. Click "Add" .
  5. Double click Unlisted or updated driver in the list.
  6. Type C:\AUDIO or the path and foldername where you extracted the electronic archive
  7. Click OK
  8. Select Language of driver in the list as following.

  9. Click OK
  10. Set Parameters as described in the following section, then restart your computer



2. Driver Setup

When you install the driver or run the driver's setting, the following Driver Configuration Box is displayed (e.g. OPL3-SA3 driver ).


Listed below are the possible resources that the driver might use.

WSS (Wave-In/Out,Mixer):
I/O Port: 530h, 540h, 550h, 560h

SBPro
I/O Port: 220h, 240h
IRQ: 3 (not supported on OPL3-SA), 5, 7, 9, 11, 15
DMA: 0, 1, 3

Full Duplex : <Out 0 In 1>, <Out 1 In 0>, <Out 3 In 1> (OPL3-SA)

In's DMA channel must be different from Out's DMA channel(OPL3-SA2,3)

MPU401:
I/O Port: 330h
IRQ: 5, 7, 9, 10, 11 (OPL3-SA2,3)

OPL3
I/O Port: 388h
