This document provides instructions for installing Toshiba's audio and video drivers in Windows NT 4.0.
You must use the Windows NT 4.0 Control Panel to properly install these drivers. The Setup from the electronic archive only copies the driver files to your computer's hard drive. It does not install the driver in the operating system and its registry.
To install the Tecra/Portege video driver, follow these steps:
- From the Start button select Settings, Control Panel.
- Double-click the Display icon.
- Select the Settings tab in the Display properties.
- Click Display Type and then click Change.
- Click Have Disk... .
You are asked for the location of the driver files.- Type C:\VIDEO , or use Browse... to locate the files if you specified a different directory with the Setup option.
- Click OK to close the window.
- Click OK to close the Change Display window.
- When asked if you want to install a third party driver, click Yes.
Windows NT installs the video driver.- Click Close to close the Display properties.
A dialog asks if you wish to restart Windows.- If you are installing audio drivers, click No and continue with the next section.
Otherwise, click Yes to restart your computer with the new drivers.
To install audio driver, follow these steps:
- From the Start button select Settings then Control Panel.
- Double-click the Multimedia icon.
- Select the Devices tab and click Add... .
- Click Unlisted or Updated Driver and click OK.
- A dialog asks for the location of the files.
- Type C:\AUDIO , or use Browse... to locate the files if you specified a different directory with the Setup option.
- Click OK to close the window.
- Windows NT 4.0 installs the audio driver.
- A dialog asks if you want to restart Windows NT.
- Click Yes to restart your computer.
- Windows NT 4.0 restarts using the new utilities and drivers.
After installation, you may delete the C:\VIDEO and C:\AUDIO directories. The driver files were copied to another directory.
